Small Town French Carnival

This morning, I literally watched as the circus came into town. It was a caravan of trailers, trucks, and campers, one vehicle carrying a gigantic rolled up tarp and some armature riddled with light bulbs, the all-important "big top" I presume. They effectively shut down midday traffic by coming into our small town. Anyway, here's a little video of our trip to a local town carnival a couple of weeks ago.

I can't believe how well behaved french dogs are! They didn't lunge at the delicious carnival junk (junque?) food. They also were very stylishly turned out. Haute couture for dogs no doubt. It is also funny that the same sales pitch for the ginzu knife is available en francais as well. How many thinly sliced cucumbers and carrots can one person need in a lifetime?

So, in the scene with the little girl fishing for bright plastic duckies, what is moving around brownly in the pool to her left? I feel like it may be swimming rats, but I hope I am wrong.

If I'm not wrong, I'm suddenly very skeptical of the entire country of France. Because in no way should rat fishing be a cultural event, carnie-sponsored or otherwise.
